Through several core areas of activity, we transform our vision of national partnership into tangible action on the ground – from generating community knowledge to developing and advancing Israel’s next generation of leadership.
We provide the professional ecosystem for hundreds of communities and groups throughout the country. Our work includes organizational guidance, leadership training for community builders, and creating a safety net that empowers community members to deepen their roots in the periphery and sustain a meaningful shared lifestyle over the long term.
We work to strengthen the social resilience of residents in Israel’s geographic and social periphery, both during routine times and throughout emergencies. By building networks of mutual responsibility and programs that reinforce local identity, we ensure that even in times of crisis, the community serves as a source of strength and support for all residents.
MAKOM serves as a bridge between the decision-makers and those working on the ground. We work in close cooperation with local authorities and government ministries to integrate community models into public policy, recognizing that the connection between public institutions and the community is the key to narrowing social gaps.
Through extensive research and developing proven methodologies for community work, we distill extensive field experience into practical tools, distribute professional knowledge, and train professionals and volunteers to build mission-driven communities from the ground up.
MAKOM promotes formal and informal educational programs that nurture the next generation of leaders. Through our networks of educators, we operate within schools and young adult centers to reinforce a sense of purpose, civic engagement, and connection to Zionist values.
